As you probably all know, the 2008 McShep Awards results were posted today. We have such a fantastic fandom, with so many talented artists and writers, that it is lovely to have the awards to celebrate this fact. Many congratulations to everyone who was nominated and to the winners! *Many* thanks to forcryinoutloud, smuffster and everyone else involved in the awards for their hard work and commitment.

Thank you so much to everyone who nominated my stories & voted for them. I am absolutely delighted that one of the stories I wrote with sgamadison, Wing and A Prayer, was a runner-up in the hurt/comfort category! Thank you!

I've been away this weekend at a friend's hen party (and, let me tell you, attempting to dance whilst 8 months pregnant is an interesting experience...!) and come home to find it's been snowing on LJ! Thank you *so* much to everyone who sent me a snowflake! *hugs* I'm only sorry to have missed out on the chance to send some myself.

The other thing I want to quickly mention is the wonder that is mcfleece! I can't believe that this is our third year and am so glad that everyone is still excited about celebrating the awesomeness that is Rodney McKay and his fleece! The whole thing came about from a conversation between zinfic and myself and we haven't looked back. Zin has done all the hard-work this year with re-vamping the comm *hugs Zin* and so all that's left is for me to say come on over and help us celebrate The Fleece! \o/

I don't know if I can blame any of this on the pregnancy, but, gosh, I don't seem to be able to stop these days... Only a little over three weeks left before I go on maternity leave and, OMG, only a little over six before the b is due to make an appearance!!

It's the last SGA Big Bang, so I just had to sign-up. There is already a fantastic line-up of writers and artists taking part and it's clear that it's going to be AWESOME! \o/ Slightly scary, as well.... Eek! *starts thinking hard*

Like lots of people, I'm hedging my bets with regard to Dreamwidth. I mean, it looks nice enough, I found it really easy to upload (or is it download??) my LJ entires, but I have no real reason to abandon LJ yet. So, I'm still here & planning to stay, although I might also post/read over at DW too. If anyone's interested, I'm here on DW so do please drop by if you're over there too! *g* Also, if you're not over there but would like to be, just let me know, I've a couple of invite codes in need of a good fannish home... *g*

I was just pointed to this site by one of my very good RL friends, and OMG, it's *awesome*. It's a project called Galaxy Zoo and this is its second incarnation. It's run by a bunch of researchers from universities from all over and the basic idea is to help astronomers classify the structure of galaxies - something which is still more accurately done by the human brain than by a computer. It's great fun, so if you have a spare few minutes from time to time, do log in and classify a few galaxies!

Also, can someone please give me a quick kick in the arse? I should be writing and not playing with space... *g*
