I probably should have done this quite awhile ago... So, for a list of, and easy access to, all my McShep fic, the simplest place to go is probably Wraithbait.

Alternatively, each story has its own tag here on my LJ, so just click on the title from the tag sidebar and you'll get all the entries for that story. They are all internally linked, so just click on 'Part 1' and go from there.

I hope you enjoy!

Dear UK Flisters,

I know I'm preaching to the choir with you guys when it comes to LGBT equality, but believing something is fair and actually getting off your bum and doing something about it doesn't always follow like it should. So here's a little (and slightly preachy) reminder!!

Three things I'd like you all to do before you go to bed tonight (if you haven't already)

1/ Go here and sign the C4EM's petition for marriage equality. This is the simplest and probably most visible way to show your support. It currently has 60,000 signatures -- the petition against (by C4M) has over 500,000!!!

2/ Go here and fill out the government's consultation. It might take a little bit longer, but you can bet that for every pro-person who doesn't find the time, there will be dozens of 'anti' people who will.

3/ Email your MP. There's a handy template there for you to use so you don't even have to think of what to say. Also, you can go here to see where your MP stands on the issue. A hugely important thing to do because the majority of MPs will be voting with their conscience rather than following the party line, so make sure you let yours know your feelings.

4/ Okay, so I lied. There's actually a fourth thing. And that is simply spread the word. The consultation ends in two day - it's our last chance to get as many people mobilised as possible. So tweet it, Facebook, blog it, beat your friends and family around the head with it until they give in!!! And if you want to repost to your own journal (and please feel free to edit), here's an ever-so helpful button

The utterly gorgeous vida_boheme has created a beautiful fanmix for Unforgettable, the story sgamadison and I wrote, for the mcsheplets Still in Love with John and Rodney fest. It is a truly wonderful collection of tracks each perfectly selected to accompany a section of story. In fact, it matches what I had in mind when I was writing my parts so perfectly that it gives me *shivers* to read my words alongside the lyrics.

Do please go and check it out here and let her know how beautiful it is.

vida_boheme, it is wonderful - thank you so much! ♥

Many thanks also to velocitygrass for holding such a wonderful fest. Finally, thanks and love to sgamadison for being the best writing partner a girl could wish for. Not to mention the fact that she coded and posted this beast so all I had to do was link to it! ♥

ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Essential ACTA Resources

  • Read more about ACTA here: ACTA Fact Sheet
  • Read the authentic version of the ACTA text as of 15 April 2011, as finalized by participating countries here: ACTA Finalized Text
  • Follow the history of the treaty’s formation here: ACTA history
  • Read letters from U.S. Senator Ron Wyden wherein he challenges the constitutionality of ACTA: Letter 1 | Letter 2 | Read the Administration’s Response to Wyden’s First Letter here: Response
  • Watch a short informative video on ACTA: ACTA Video
  • Watch a lulzy video on ACTA: Lulzy Video

Say NO to ACTA. It is essential to spread awareness and get the word out on ACTA.

I'd also like to add, again originally posted elsewhere and seen all over, that there is an e-petition entitled 'Say NO to ACTA' that you can sign if you live in the UK. To do so, please go here.

Just a quick posting to wish everyone a very happy new year! I've been woefully neglectful of LJ this past year - I only managed to get on here sporadically and have only written on story, something that I hope to improve upon in 2012.

I did want to say a very heart-felt thank you to everyone who has sent me things over the holidays. vida_boheme, bluespirit_star, and sgamadison, in particular, thank you so much for your cards and gifts. Finn, Miss F loves her book - that was so thoughtful of you - and Madison, I got your card this morning and it made me cry. *hugs you all*

I wish all of you a very happy new year and here's to a cracking 2012!

On the advice of sarah_madison, I've gone ahead and created separate LJ for my pen name. So I'd like to introduce you to clairerussett! You know, I'm going to end up with multiple personalities before this is all through...!

I've made a post over there about my short story, including the yummy cover art for the anthology as well as a short excerpt. Hop on over and enjoy!

So today is something of an event - for the first time in far too long I've actually been able to post fic here! :) I wrote Chain Reaction as a pinch hit for the 5th mcshep_match and *loved* the whole experience. It had been over a year since I'd last written anything and I can't tell you how lovely it was to write the boys again! ♥

Like many of you, telling stories is an integral part of who I am. Discovering fanfic and LJ was something of a revelation for me -- for the first time I could actually write my stories down and share them instead of keeping them locked up in my head. I've loved participating in fandom - reading, writing and sharing stories. Since the birth of my daughter, time has been at a real premium. Juggling motherhood and my job has left precious little time and for far too long my stories have been locked up in my head once more. Having rediscovered just how much fun it is to set them free, I am going to *make* time for writing, even if it just a few hundred words a couple of days a week.

I've known for a while that many fanfic writers have crossed over into pro fic. That's not something I ever really considered to any serious degree - insecurity being the main issue. I've watched with pleasure as sgamadison's pro writer career has taken off. I'm sure you'll all agree that she is a fantastic author who deserves to be published. I was checking out some of her work and poking around one of the publisher's websites when I happened upon a call for submissions for a m/m anthology to be titled 'Higher Learning'. As I'm sure most of you know, I work at a university and love getting a bit of science into my fics. As such, I couldn't resist sending in a short story in response to the call. As soon as I hit the 'send' button I wished I could recall it -- I'd basically send 4K of math porn to some random publisher and I was so embarrassed!! To my surprise and delight, the short story was accepted... I was gobsmacked.

So, if any of you are interested, I have a short story in the Higher Learning anthology. My pen name is Claire Russett. I received my print copies of the anthology yesterday and they are *gorgeous*. I have to admit that I might have stroked them lovingly for a bit before putting them in my bookshelf. :) I'm not a fast writer and, like I said, time is precious at the moment, but I do want to keep writing. Fingers crossed, more fanfic and the odd pro short story will be in my future. I'll keep you posted...!
